Having ran my own businesses for 9 years and also helping people grow their’s for 5 years, I know how important it is to have a Marketing strategy.

Over the years, I have had clients sit in front of me in despair as they have no customers, knowing full well the reason is because they haven’t been marketing their business enough.

In this blog, I am going to share with you my secrets to having the best marketing strategy you can.

Know your customer!

First and Foremost you need to know who your target market is. Who are you trying to reach? Then start to narrow it down, think about you ideal customer and their age, occupation, where are they from? Then depending on your answers, think if you were them and you needed your product/service, where would you look for it? This is the time to get into your potential customers minds!

Plan time into your schedule

Once you have established your ideal customer and where you need may need to be advertising this is where you can start planning a strategy. Whether it be online or offline, organise and plan your marketing for every day of the week. Allowing yourself a certain amount of time per day will ensure that your marketing is consistent and persistant. The more you are out there, the more you will be seen.

Never underestimate the amount of time you need to spend on your marketing, as without it quite simply, you will have no customers.

Content is key

Then it comes down to content and how your business and brand is put across to others.

I personally like to think about my ideal client and what solution I can give them to their problem. Starting my ad with a question helps. i.e. Do you feel stuck in a rut with your business? Then let us help with our personalised 1:1 mentoring sessions.

Think about all the key ‘buzz’ words of your business and the solutions you can give them and apply this to all advertising. Content should be kept fresh and alway’s engaging.

Track your data!

Finally after all this hard work you have put in you must do one other thing that most businesses fail to do and that is record where your customers are coming from. So for every potential customer you speak to make sure you ask them how they heard about you and record the date and information whether it be with a excel spreadsheet or CRM system.

Look back on this regularly and any other insights you have access too (i.e. Facebook business page insights etc) as this is key to ensuring that where you are concentrating your effots on marketing, that it is paying off and that you continue to do carry on with that platform.

Having a marketing plan and strategy will always develop and change over time as your business grows, so don’t be afraid to move with this!

So remember;

Know your customer!

Plan time into your schedule

Content is key

and finally…

Track your data!
